As soon as the Hunter Biden New York Post story went up, social media platforms started to take it down. Will Oremus has the tick-tock on how Facebook took action first, in it’s careful, frustrating, measured way. Twitter acted more aggressively: “It began blocking all sharing of links to the Post story, or even screenshots of its text.” Facebook and Twitter have very different ways of going after misinformation, as Will wrote about back in May, about the fact-checking of Trump’s tweets. Today, those systems were put to the test.
