Did Trump Mean to Make Pelosi Look Good? An Investigation.
The president’s tweet about ‘Negative Nancy’s unhinged meltdown’ completely backfired
“Nervous Nancy’s unhinged meltdown!” Donald Trump tweeted Wednesday evening, the 14th message he’d posted to the platform that day. Accompanying his headline is a photo taken earlier in the day in the Cabinet Room: House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is the only person standing at a table full of white men in suits, her index finger extended, seemingly lecturing Trump, who sits across from her.
There’s a lot going on in the photo, but maybe the most interesting detail is that we’re even looking at it at all. Pelosi is clearly the dominating figure in the photo — not Trump, who if anything, looks slightly peeved. Most people won’t see a meltdown in this image; they’ll see Pelosi literally standing up to Trump. It’s fair to say that’s how the Democratic leader saw it. She quickly made it the cover photo on her own Twitter page.
