If you think 2020 feels like a déjà vu from another era, you’re not alone. Eerie similarities link events today to the year 2000 — from apocalypse prepping to fears of a drawn-out, contested presidential election — it’s as if history is bound to repeat itself on a 20-year cycle.

This week, ZORA is taking a dip into the world of 2000s nostalgia to analyze and celebrate the 20th anniversary of this pivotal milestone, and how it illuminates what we’re experiencing today. After all, who knows what else from the early 2000s will repeat itself again? Just please don’t say low-rise jeans.
