Have Biden and the Democrats Already Led Us Over the Precipice?
Republicans are poised to win in ’22 and ’24, restrict voting, crank the dial on global warming, and we the people are screwed

My expectations for the Democrats were low. They were extremely low, but there was that glimmer of hope. I am, after all, an American; blind optimism in the face of reality is one of my home country’s greatest exports. Biden himself said he wasn’t going to do much, but I at least thought he’d do a little.
Instead, this administration is doing everything they can to hand the next two elections to the climate-change-denying Republicans who despise democracy and want to create a one-party Christian-fascist state through voter restriction, flooding the courts with Federalist Society judges, and eliminating free speech and peaceful protest.
America, the citizens of the world, and life on this planet are on the precipice. There needs to be more urgency.
The Republican plan
If they win control of either chamber in 2022, they’ll use it to completely lockdown the government and deny Biden the ability to do the tiny things he might have had planned. Then that inaction will be used against Democrats to win the 2024 presidential election.
Once back in power, they’ll close the door behind them and lock it. They truly, truly have no interest in or need for democracy. In fact, they hate it. They hate it when citizens, who do not look, think, and believe as they do, vote. So, they’re doing everything they can to stop them from doing so.
As we stand today, state legislations have introduced over 400 voter-restricting pieces of legislation in 49 states. And 18 states have enacted 39 laws that make it harder to vote. Since the 2020 census, Republican majority state legislators are redistricting, gerrymandering their way into a majority like Wisconsin in 2012, when Democrats won the majority of votes but received only 39% of the seats in the state government. Republicans are looking to repeat that everywhere they can.
To be fair, Democrats gerrymander as well and will likely eliminate a Republican House seat in New York. The practice is…
