Let’s Agree Joe Manchin is The Grinch Who Stole Build Back Better
One senator should not be this powerful but here we are
Of course, I debated whether or not to go down this rabbit hole. Joe Manchin is a tiring presence for progressives. And the sad part is, we know that it's not cordial to say "I told you so," but at this point, what else is there left to say?
Months ago, when The Squad opposed passing The Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, they did so because they knew this gave them leverage over the moderates. And what were they planning to use that leverage for? To pass legislation that actually helps Americans, but now all that progress has come to a screeching halt because Joe Manchin decided to become the Grinch who stole Build Back Better.
While some of us saw this coming from a mile away, Manchin broke his promise to negotiate in good faith. Let's keep it real; he never agreed with the "framework." Instead, like a Grinch, he waited until everyone was asleep, and once the infrastructure legislation passed, he was more than willing to pull the rug from under Americans who were depending on him.
Manchin doesn’t care who’s been naughty or nice, but he does care about the coal industry.
