Far-right militia groups deplatformed by Facebook and Twitter are using alternative apps to mobilize on Election Day. “On Zello and MeWe, people claiming to be U.S. militia members are stoking fear about post-election unrest, encouraging their compatriots to prepare for uprisings in major cities,” Sarah Emerson reports for OneZero. Armed civilians in the chats called the plot to kidnap Gov. Gretchen Whitmer a move that was “absolutely in the right direction.”

The militias have also discussed the use of lethal force, reminding us of the possibility of another incident like in Kenosha or worse. After all, Trump did encourage militias to “stand back and stand by,” which neo-Nazi leaders interpreted as a signal to prepare for war.
