On January 6, lawmakers in Washington, D.C., experienced the terror of a shooting in their workplace. It’s a feeling students across the country know well, having practiced for “active shooter drills” for years. Emma Rowland and Tatiana Washington are policy associates for March For Our Lives, and they have a few words for the outgoing Senate majority leader about what he just experienced.
Mitch McConnell, I hope that feeling of utter insecurity never leaves you because every young person in America knows exactly how you feel. I also hope that you have learned your lesson when it comes to passing legislation that would prevent school shootings. We have come to you on several occasions to demand that you do exactly that.
