Please Don’t Help Your Brother Cover Up His Sex Crimes
In which I am forced, once again, to set achievable goals
Look: This is not the subject I want to be covering this morning. It is probably not the subject I ought to be covering this morning. Roe v. Wade is facing a direct challenge in the Supreme Court, it is likely to be formally overruled in the near future, people who can get pregnant are about to be classified subhuman by the government, and the New York Times is arguing that it doesn’t matter because women already “have it all.” Also, it’s the holiday season. I could do a gift guide!
Alas, neither of those posts are the post I am posting for you today. I work in an industry that is still unreasonably dominated by cis men — the grand industry of Media — and for some reason, this is the week they’ve decided to out themselves as (theoretically) willing to break the rules of their profession to help out a sexual predator.
Why would they do this, you ask me? Simple. Chris Cuomo — brother of disgraced former New York governor and infamous serial sexual harasser Andrew Cuomo — was indefinitely suspended from CNN for helping to cover up his brother’s misdeeds. And now, these men want you to know that, in Chris Cuomo’s shoes, they too would commit such a cover-up:
