The GOP’s carving up of Nashville’s Congressional District reveals their only real agenda — owning the libs

I live in Nashville.

And not, as in, for the past several months because I came here to get a recording contract or came to visit and thought it was cool.

As we say in the South, I done been here.

I was born here, grew up in an apartment complex around the corner from the legendary Bluebird Cafe, and have called this place home for 43 of my 53 years.

My five-times-great-grandfather was one of this city’s “founding residents.”

I mention this not to brag — Ephraim McLean and his contemporaries were not my kinds of role models, given their unconscionable ownership of Black folks and treatment of Indigenous persons — but merely to make a point.

I am a Nashvillian through and through and can lay claim to this place better than most — surely more so than newcomers like Candace Owens, Tomi Lahren, Kid Rock, and the staff of Ben Shapiro’s media empire.

More so than the bachelorettes on their stupid pedal taverns or the other drunk tourists on Lower Broadway desperately searching for the rhinestone mine while reinforcing every stereotype of…
