Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell easily defeated his opponent, Democrat Amy McGrath. Though McGrath had some eye-popping fundraising numbers, she was always seen as a long-shot to unseat McConnell, a seven-term incumbent. When McGrath spoke with GEN earlier this year, she emphasized that the race was “about Mitch McConnell and how bad he is for Kentucky.” Enough Kentuckians beg to differ, apparently.
