The 25th amendment discourse is only heating up. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced new legislation on Friday that would create a commission to allow Congress to remove a president from office by using the 25th Amendment. Pelosi’s new bill comes on the heels of President Donald Trump’s Covid-19 diagnosis and questions of whether he’s of sound mind to carry out the duties of his office.

Exactly what is the 25th Amendment, you ask? As Ben Jacobs explained for GEN last week, it says the president can voluntarily turn over power to the vice president if he is unable to serve.
