TThe week began with a powerful man in his car issuing a warning about Marxism. On Monday, Republican Sen. Marco Rubio uploaded a video to Twitter in which, while driving through a sunny-looking neighborhood, he discussed the possibility of Bernie Sanders as the Democratic Party’s presidential nominee. “That’s a really big deal,” Rubio said of Sanders’ potential win, “because democratic socialism sounds benign, but at the core of democratic socialism is Marxism.”

And Marxism, Rubio contended, means the death of American independence. “At the core of Marxism is this fake offer that if you turn over more of your individual freedom, we’re going to provide you security, we’re going to provide you free health care, we’re going to provide you free education,” he said. “The problem is that when they can’t deliver on it … you don’t get your freedoms back.”
