There’s Money For Defense Contractors, But Not Your Healthcare

Welcome to another day here in America, where — in an incredibly predictable, unsurprising move — the U.S. House of Representatives voted to approve a $770 billion budget for the U.S. department of defense. Of course, it’s worth noting this budget didn’t just pass by the skin of its teeth. It passed with a staggering 363–30 margin.
Progressive Congressman Jamaal Bowman, who was among the 30 to vote no, weighed in on Twitter writing:
“…It is astounding how quickly Congress moves weapons but we can’t ensure housing, care, and justice for our veterans, nor invest in robust jobs programs for districts like mine.”
I mean, he’s not wrong is he? Its votes like these that, if nothing else, certainly remind the Democratic base and the American people overall where the priorities lie.
There’s money for war, weapons, and defense contractors to fiddle around with and develop their multi-million dollar death machines, but when it comes to healthcare for the American people, there’s none to be found. There’s money to be spent on developing new ways to kill and line the pockets…
