A new four-part docuseries on Hulu tells the life story of the ever-vexing, always fascinating 2016 Democratic presidential nominee
It is a very good thing that the four-part, four-hour documentary Hillary did not hit Hulu right before Super Tuesday, when it would have reignited the controversy over Hillary Clinton’s animosity toward Bernie Sanders at the worst possible time for Democrats.
I saw Hillary in January at Sundance, where I was among the last two people to be allowed into the theater off the waitlist. I’d tried several paths — emailing layers of people — to get a ticket before heading to the film festival last minute, but it was sold out. I took that as a sign I should use my time in the mountains of Utah doing something other than reliving the horror of 2016. But I couldn’t let it go. I went to the theater and there was an enormous waitlist, the line of people stretching hundreds deep. I took that as another sign and went to lunch with a friend. I finished lunch and as we walked by the theater again on our way back to town, my guilt at being a lifelong political junkie and skipping the world premiere got the better of me.
