The Democrats Are Doing Impeachment Right
Nancy Pelosi and her troops are impeaching Trump the right way
By now, you may be used to chronically dissatisfied liberals such as myself playing armchair QB for Democratic party leadership and endlessly bitching about their reticence/subservience/obliviousness when it comes to dealing with President Trump. They’ve waited too long to impeach. They aren’t impeaching him for enough shit. They’ve botched the timing of impeachment, allowing demon seed Mitch McConnell to potentially use an impeachment trial as a way of keeping 2020 Democratic candidates from campaigning in the early primary states. You’ve heard all these takes from your local Bernie Bro or Squad enthusiast. But now that Trump has formally been impeached by the House, allow me to briefly tack centerward and say this:

They are. They impeached Trump, and that’s the main thing. Nancy Pelosi is even mulling over the canny idea to withhold the articles of impeachment from a corrupt and useless Senate in order to extract specific parameters and witness testimony for an impeachment trial, and to keep Trump’s newfound Scarlet Letter prominent in the news cycle (useful as an election cudgel) before McConnell and his acolytes hastily acquit Trump and demand…
