When You Refuse To See Yourself As The Bad Guy, You Are The Bad Guy
Mike Pompeo, like so many Republicans, doesn’t believe America should have to apologize for anything. That’s the perfect mindset for disaster.
Mike Pompeo is an asshole. This can be difficult to keep top of mind, since there are so many assholes working within the Trump administration that keeping tabs on all of them simultaneously — and on all of their evildoing — is a lot to ask of anyone, much less your average American just trying to get by from day to day. So today, I’m gonna explain Pompeo’s worldview—one that is very common in Republican circles and kicked into overdrive after the unifying effects of 9/11 dissipated—and how it’s already made the world a worse place. I will, at some point, have to rope in another GOP asshole or two to flesh out this unfolding disaster. But let’s begin at the source.
Pompeo is currently our Secretary of State, taking over from clueless oil magnate Rex Tillerson last year and, unlike so many other Trump officials, formally confirmed by the Senate to his post.
